About Ahmadiyya Islam North Jersey Chapter

Bait-ul-Wahid(House of One) is an Islamic center that serves the local North Jersey Muslim community. Located in the heart of Hawthorne, NJ the mosque was established by the Ahmadiyya Muslim community USA in 2016. It's a central hub where Muslims engage in religious activities like congregational prayer (Salah*) and the study of Islam. This location hosts events and gatherings to promote social cohesion and strengthen the bonds of the local citizens. The mosque features spacious prayer halls for men and women, a library, a kitchen, and a recreational space with dedicated parking for accessibility.

About Ahmadiyya Community

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community are Muslims who believe in the Messiah,  Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be on him) (1835-1908) of Qadian. Mirza Ghulam Ahmad founded the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community in 1889 as a revival movement within Islam, emphasizing its essential teachings of peace, love, justice, and sanctity of life. Today, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is the world’s largest Islamic community under one Divinely appointed leader, His Holiness,   Mirza Masroor Ahmad (may Allah be his Helper) (b. 1950). The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community spans over 200 nations with membership exceeding tens of millions.

About Ahmadiyya Community USA

In 1920, the Ahmadiyya Muslim movement expanded its reach to the US under the guidance of Harat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad. The first Ahmadiyya Muslim Missionary to arrive in the country was Hazrat Dr. Mufti Muhammad Sadiq, who initially faced detention upon landing in Philadelphia. After being instructed to correspond with the then President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson, Dr. Sadiq was granted permission to spread the teachings of Islam in the US.

The movement's first headquarters in the US was subsequently established in Chicago, Illinois. With the blessings of Allah, the Ahmadiyya Muslim movement has since established Islamic centers in more than 38 cities across the United States.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as)
Promised Messiah and Reformer (1835-1908)

Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be on him) was born in Qadian, India, into a prominent family whose ancestry can be traced to Persia, he was the second of three children. He was homeschooled, his studies including logic, philosophy, medicine, and Urdu, Arabic, and Persian; he also independently studied religion.

First Khalifah of Islam Ahmadiyya (1908-1914)

The first khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Maulvi Hakeem Nuruddin was the most devoted follower of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. A talented physician and Islamic scholar, he was the first follower of Ahmad to take the Oath of Allegiance in 1889. He was khalifa from 1908-1914. During his khilafat, the Community established its first foreign mission in London, translated the Holy Qur’an into English and established its first madrassa (religious school). He also thwarted an attempt by some rogue members of the Community to usurp the mantle of khilafat.

Second Khalifah of Islam Ahmadiyya (1914-1965)

The second khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad was the eldest surviving son of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad and Nusrat Jahan Begum. In 1886, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad prophesied that God would bless him with a Promised Son, who would prove to be a boon for the Community. In 1944, Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad claimed to be this Promised Son. A renaissance man and skillful orator, his knowledge base included comparative religious study, philosophy, city planning, agriculture, Quranic exegesis, world history, linguistics, economics, political science, etc.

Third Khalifah of Islam Ahmadiyya (1965-1982)

The third khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Mirza Nasir Ahmad was the eldest son of Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad and a grandson of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. Earning his B.A and M.A from Oxford University, he was well-versed in political science and economics and served as the headmaster for the Community’s secondary school prior to his appointment to khilafa. He was khalifa from 1965-1982. During his khilafat, the Community established mosques in numerous Western European countries as well as establishing the Nusrat Jahan scheme, to build hospitals in schools in Africa. In the 1970s, he guided the Community past a nefarious state-sponsored attempt to delegitimize and persecute the Community.

Fourth Khalifah of Islam Ahmadiyya (1982-2003)

The fourth khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Mirza Tahir Ahmad was the third child of Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad and Syeda Maryam Begum, and a grandson of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. An erudite and scholar, he penned works on religious polemics, philosophy, evolution, poetry, ecumenism, homeopathy, etc. He was khalifa from 1982-2003. During his khilafat, the Community founded its independent humanitarian organization, Humanity First, and launched Muslim Television Ahmadiyya, the only 24-hour Islamic programming television channel. In the 1980s, he united and expanded the Community despite intensified state-sponsored persecution which forced him to personally migrate to England.

Fifth Khalifah of Islam Ahmadiyya (2003-Present)

The fifth and current khalifa of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, Mirza Masroor Ahmad, is a great-grandson of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. He was elected khalifa on April 22nd, 2003. He serves as the worldwide spiritual and administrative head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, whose membership exceeds 10’s of millions across 209 countries and territories.

Serving Local Muslims

Our beautifully furnished prayer halls, equally spacious for both men and women, provide a welcoming space for congregational prayers, Friday sermons, and other religious gatherings. The vast library, with its impressive collection of books and references, is the perfect spot for intellectual growth and research.

The outside of the center is equally beautiful and vast, making it an ideal location for large gatherings. With the ability to set up additional tents, the center can host outdoor events with ease.

Serving North New Jersey

The Bait ul Wahid center organizes local campaigns such as plantation and blood drives, and provides regular Islamic teaching classes for children through the Tahir Academy. These initiatives demonstrate the center's commitment to serving and giving back to the community.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA chapter has launched several national campaigns to promote justice, loyalty, and interfaith dialogue. The "Muslims for Justice" campaign is a nationwide effort aimed at ensuring that justice is upheld for all Americans, regardless of their race or color. The "Muslims for Loyalty" campaign aims to promote the loyalty of Muslims to the United States, highlighting the importance of being good citizens and contributing positively to society.In addition to these initiatives, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community also organizes "Open Mosque Day," a nationwide campaign to welcome Americans to visit their mosques and learn about Islam. These campaigns reflect the community's commitment to promoting peace, understanding, and unity among people of different faiths and backgrounds.
